Lewis Black

Lewis Black, born on August 30, 1948, is a prominent American stand-up comedian and actor known for his passionate and often furious rants that tackle a variety of subjects including history, politics, religion, and cultural trends. His unique style has made him a beloved figure in the world of comedy.

Black gained significant recognition as the host of the Comedy Central series 'Lewis Black's Root of All Evil' and has been a staple on 'The Daily Show' since 1996, where he delivers his signature 'Back in Black' commentary segment. His contributions to comedy have not gone unnoticed; in 2004, he was ranked fifty-first among the one hundred greatest stand-up comedians of all time by Comedy Central, and he achieved fifth place in the network's Stand Up Showdown in 2008.

In addition to his stand-up career, Lewis Black lent his voice to the character Anger in the acclaimed Pixar film 'Inside Out' and is set to reprise this role in the upcoming sequel in 2024. His versatility extends beyond comedy as he serves as a spokesman for the Aruba Tourism Authority and has been an ambassador for voting rights with the American Civil Liberties Union since 2013.

When not touring, Black splits his time between Manhattan and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He has also been involved with the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library, serving on its board of directors since 2022 after being an honorary member for a decade.
