His contributions to comedy have not gone unnoticed; in 2004, he was ranked fifty-first among the one hundred greatest stand-up comedians of all time by Comedy Central, and he achieved fifth place in the network's Stand Up Showdown in 2008.

In addition to his stand-up career, Lewis Black lent his voice to the character Anger in the acclaimed Pixar film 'Inside Out' and is set to reprise this role in the upcoming sequel in 2024.
