He first gained attention with his 2017 single 'Resume', which set the stage for his burgeoning career. His breakthrough came in 2018 with the release of 'Brothers', a track that not only showcased his talent but also led to a signing with Columbia Records after achieving triple platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America.

In 2019, Lil Tjay made his mark on the Billboard Hot 100 with his guest appearance on Polo G's single 'Pop Out', which peaked at number eleven.
