Lila Kagedan

Lila Kagedan is a trailblazing Canadian-born Jewish rabbi, recognized for her significant contributions to the Open Orthodox community. In two thousand sixteen, she made history by becoming the first woman to be appointed as a rabbi at an American Open Orthodox synagogue, a groundbreaking achievement that marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of Jewish leadership.

Her journey began when she was hired by the Mount Freedom Jewish Center in New Jersey, where she joined their spiritual leadership team. This role not only highlighted her dedication to her faith but also her commitment to fostering inclusive and progressive practices within the Jewish community.

Currently, Rabbi Kagedan serves at the Walnut Street Synagogue, an Open Orthodox congregation located in Massachusetts. Her leadership continues to inspire many, as she works to create a welcoming environment for all members of her community.
