Lilly Reich

Lilly Reich, born on June sixteenth, eighteen eighty-five, was a pioneering German designer whose expertise spanned textiles, furniture, interiors, and exhibition spaces. Her innovative approach and keen eye for detail positioned her as a significant figure in the early Modern Movement in architecture and design.

For over a decade, from nineteen twenty-five until Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's emigration to the United States in nineteen thirty-eight, Reich collaborated closely with him. This partnership not only shaped her career but also contributed to the evolution of modern design principles during the Weimar period.

Despite her substantial contributions, Reich's recognition came posthumously. It was only through the diligent research of later historians that the true significance of her work alongside Mies van der Rohe and other contemporaries became evident. Her legacy continues to inspire and influence designers and architects today.
