Lilya Budzhurova

Lilya Budzhurova, born on November first, nineteen fifty-eight, is a distinguished Crimean Tatar poet and journalist whose contributions to literature and media have made a significant impact in Ukraine. Her dedication to her craft earned her the title of Honored Journalist of Ukraine in two thousand five, a recognition of her commitment to journalistic integrity and excellence.

Throughout her career, Budzhurova has been a vocal advocate for pro-Ukrainian views, which has shaped her work as a journalist and university teacher. Her passion for storytelling and education has inspired many, particularly within the Crimean Tatar community, where she has played a pivotal role in preserving cultural narratives.

In two thousand fifteen, Budzhurova faced a significant challenge when she lost her position at the television channel ATR. This loss was a direct consequence of the channel's inability to secure a license from Roskomnadzor, a situation that arose as a form of retaliation against the channel's pro-Ukrainian broadcasts. Despite this setback, her resilience and commitment to her principles continue to shine through her poetry and public engagements.
