Known by her married name, Lindsay Mintenko, since two thousand five, she is a two-time Olympian and a former world record-holder. Her remarkable career includes serving as Team Captain for the United States women's swim team during the two thousand and four and two thousand Summer Olympics, where she proudly secured gold medals in freestyle relays.

Benko's prowess in the pool is highlighted by her impressive short-course world record in the 400-meter freestyle, which she held for nearly three years, from January two thousand three to December two thousand five, with a time of three minutes fifty-nine point fifty-three seconds. Her journey in competitive swimming began at the University of Southern California, where she earned All-American honors and led her team to its first NCAA National Championship in nineteen ninety-seven.

After her successful swimming career, Lindsay transitioned into coaching, serving as an Assistant Coach at USC for five years. In two thousand six, she joined USA Swimming's National Team staff, and in two thousand seventeen, she made history by becoming the first woman to hold the position of USA National Team Division Managing Director. In this role, she oversees the management of both the men's and women's U.S. Olympic swim teams, further solidifying her legacy in the sport.
