Lisa Feldman Barrett

Lisa Feldman Barrett, born in nineteen sixty-three, is a prominent Canadian-American psychologist and neuroscientist renowned for her groundbreaking work in affective science. As a Distinguished Professor of psychology at Northeastern University, she co-directs the Interdisciplinary Affective Science Laboratory, where her research delves into the complexities of human emotions and their underlying mechanisms.

Throughout her illustrious career, Barrett has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the William James Fellow Award from the Association for Psychological Science, which she will receive in twenty twenty-five, and the Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions from the American Psychological Association, awarded in twenty twenty-one. Additionally, she has been honored with a Guggenheim Fellowship, further solidifying her status as a leading figure in her field.

In collaboration with James Russell, Barrett established the journal Emotion Review, serving as its founding editor-in-chief. She also partnered with James Gross to create the Society for Affective Science, fostering a community dedicated to the advancement of research in emotional science.
