Her impressive achievements include being a two-time national champion and a four-time first team All-American. She still holds several UCLA records, including career shutouts, WHIP, and winning percentage, showcasing her dominance on the field.

Fernandez's Olympic journey is equally impressive, as she established a record with twenty-five strikeouts in a single game while representing the United States women's national softball team. Notably, she pitched in three consecutive gold medal games, securing a save in nineteen ninety-six, delivering an extra-inning shutout in two thousand, and ultimately clinching the gold medal in two thousand four with a five to one victory.

Recognized as the #1 Greatest College Softball Player, Fernandez's legacy is further solidified by her induction into the USA Softball Hall of Fame.
