Her big break came in nineteen sixty when she participated in a festival in Mali Lošinj, where her exceptional voice caught the attention of the head of the artists and repertoire division at Jugoton, a prominent record label. This opportunity paved the way for her to represent Yugoslavia in the Eurovision Song Contest in nineteen sixty-one, where she performed the enchanting song 'Neke davne zvezde' (Some ancient stars) and secured an impressive eighth place with nine points.

Petrović continued to record music throughout the late nineteen seventies before stepping back from the public eye. After a significant hiatus, she re-emerged in the late nineteen eighties as an author, showcasing her literary talent with the release of a poetry book in nineteen ninety-one.
