Loren Legarda

Loren Legarda, born on January twenty-eight, nineteen sixty, is a distinguished Filipino politician, environmentalist, cultural worker, and former journalist. She has made significant contributions to the Philippine Senate, serving since two thousand twenty-two, with previous terms from nineteen ninety-eight to two thousand four and from two thousand seven to two thousand nineteen. Notably, she held the position of president pro tempore of the Senate from two thousand twenty-two to two thousand twenty-four, making her the longest-serving female senator in the history of the institution.

Before her political career, Legarda began as a news reporter and later became a prominent news anchor. Her political journey includes three terms in the Senate and a role as House Deputy Speaker while representing Antique from two thousand nineteen to two thousand twenty-two. She made two attempts to secure the vice presidency in two thousand four and two thousand ten but faced electoral challenges.
