Lorenzen Wright was an American professional basketball player who made a significant impact in the National Basketball Association (NBA) over the course of thirteen seasons. Born on November 4, 1975, he was drafted seventh overall in the 1996 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers. Throughout his career, Wright showcased his skills while playing for several teams, including the Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Tragically, Wright's life took a dark turn when he went missing on July 18, 2010. His disappearance sparked concern and extensive media coverage, culminating in the discovery of his body ten days later, having been shot to death. The shocking nature of his murder, combined with his status as a local celebrity in Memphis, led to a highly publicized investigation.
In December 2017, the investigation took a significant turn when his ex-wife, Sherra Wright-Robinson, was charged with facilitating his murder. A year and a half later, she pleaded guilty to the charges. Additionally, her associate, Billy Ray Turner, was convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and attempted first-degree murder in March 2022, resulting in a life imprisonment sentence.
