Lorenzo Music, born on May second, nineteen thirty-seven, was a multifaceted American talent known for his work as an actor, voice actor, writer, and television producer. He began his career in the vibrant entertainment scene of the 1960s, where he teamed up with his wife, Henrietta, to form the comedy duo Gerald and His Hen. This partnership laid the groundwork for his future endeavors in television and comedy.

Music's breakthrough came as a writer and performer on the groundbreaking CBS variety show The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, which was known for its controversial and innovative content. His creative prowess continued to shine in the 1970s when he co-created the beloved sitcom The Bob Newhart Show alongside David Davis, contributing not only as a writer but also composing its memorable theme music with his wife.

In addition to his work on The Bob Newhart Show, Music wrote episodes for iconic series such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda. He gained significant recognition for his role as the unseen yet frequently heard Carlton the Doorman in Rhoda, showcasing his unique ability to bring characters to life through voice.

The 1980s marked a pinnacle in Music's career as he became the voice of Jim Davis' iconic comic strip character, Garfield. He lent his distinctive drawling voice to twelve animated specials, an animated series, video games, and commercials, leaving an indelible mark on popular culture. His portrayal of Garfield was so influential that it inspired subsequent actors to emulate his style following his passing in two thousand one.
