Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Lori Chavez-DeRemer

Lori Chavez-DeRemer, born on April seventh, nineteen sixty-eight, is a prominent American politician and businesswoman. She has made significant strides in her career, currently serving as the United States Secretary of Labor since 2025. A dedicated member of the Republican Party, Chavez-DeRemer previously represented Oregon's fifth congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from twenty twenty-three to twenty twenty-five.

Chavez-DeRemer's political journey began in her hometown of Happy Valley, Oregon, where she was elected to the City Council in two thousand four. Her leadership skills shone through when she became the first woman and the first Latina mayor of Happy Valley in two thousand ten, a position she held until two thousand nineteen after being reelected in two thousand fourteen.

In two thousand sixteen, she sought a seat in the Oregon House of Representatives but faced defeat against the Democratic nominee, Janelle Bynum, in both the twenty sixteen and twenty eighteen elections. Undeterred, Chavez-DeRemer shifted her focus to the U.S. House of Representatives, successfully winning the Republican primary in May twenty twenty-two and defeating Jamie McLeod-Skinner in the general election.

Her election marked a historic moment as she became the first Republican woman and one of the first Latinas to represent Oregon in Congress. However, she lost her seat to Bynum in the twenty twenty-four election. In November twenty twenty-four, President-elect Donald Trump nominated her for the Secretary of Labor position, and she was confirmed by the Senate in March twenty twenty-six, where she has since advocated for pro-labor policies.
