Lorik Cana

Lorik Cana, born on July twenty-seventh, nineteen eighty-three, is a distinguished former professional footballer who made his mark as both a centre-back and midfielder. His football journey began in Yugoslavia, but he proudly represented Albania on the international stage. Cana's career spanned top divisions in France, England, Italy, and Turkey, where he played for renowned clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Marseille, Sunderland, Galatasaray, Lazio, and Nantes.

Initially starting as a defensive and central midfielder, Cana transitioned into a centre-back role, showcasing his versatility on the field. He made his international debut for the Albania national team in June two thousand three at the age of nineteen and went on to earn a remarkable ninety-four caps, a record he held until two thousand twenty-five. Notably, he captained Albania during their first major international tournament, UEFA Euro two thousand sixteen, held in France.

Cana's club career highlights include winning the Coupe de France in the two thousand three to four season with Paris Saint-Germain and the Coppa Italia in the two thousand twelve to thirteen season with Lazio. His leadership qualities were evident when he became the first player of Albanian origin to play in the Premier League after joining Sunderland in two thousand nine, where he was appointed captain immediately.
