Lothair I

Lothair I, born in the year seven hundred ninety-five, was a prominent figure in the 9th century, serving as both Emperor of the Carolingian Empire and King of Italy and Middle Francia. His reign spanned from eight hundred seventeen to eight hundred fifty-five, during which he ruled alongside his father until the latter's death in eight hundred forty.

As the eldest son of Louis I and Ermengarde of Hesbaye, Lothair was deeply involved in the political intrigues of his time. He often found himself at odds with his full-brothers, Pepin I of Aquitaine and Louis the German, as they revolted against their father's decisions to favor their half-brother, Charles the Bald, as a co-heir to the vast Frankish territories.
