Lothair III, Holy Roman Emperor

Lothair III, also known as Lothair of Supplinburg, was born in June of the year one thousand seventy-five. He rose to prominence as an influential aristocrat and ruler, ultimately becoming the Holy Roman Emperor in the year one thousand one hundred thirty-three. His early political career began with his appointment as Duke of Saxony in one thousand one hundred six, followed by his election as King of Germany in one thousand one hundred twenty-five.

As the son of Gebhard, the Saxon count of Supplinburg, Lothair's reign was marked by significant challenges, particularly from the Hohenstaufen faction, which included notable figures such as Duke Frederick II of Swabia and Duke Conrad of Franconia. These rivalries often led to political intrigue and conflict, shaping the landscape of his rule.

Despite the turmoil, Lothair III achieved notable military success, culminating in a victorious campaign against the Norman Kingdom of Sicily. His life came to an end on the fourth of December in the year one thousand one hundred thirty-seven, as he was returning from this successful endeavor.
