Lou Costello

Louis Francis Cristillo, known to the world as Lou Costello, was born on March 6, 1906, and became a prominent figure in American entertainment. Renowned for his comedic genius, Costello gained fame as a film actor, producer, and television star, captivating audiences with his unique style and humor.

Costello's most notable partnership was with Bud Abbott, with whom he formed one of the most beloved double acts in comedy history. Their iconic routine, 'Who's on First?', showcased their remarkable chemistry and timing, making them household names during the 1940s. The duo began their collaboration in burlesque in 1936 and quickly rose to prominence, becoming some of the highest-paid entertainers in the world during World War II.

In an impressive display of patriotism, Abbott and Costello embarked on a national tour in 1942, where they remarkably sold eighty-five million dollars in war bonds within just thirty-five days. However, as the years progressed, their popularity began to decline due to overexposure, leading to the lapse of their film and television contracts by 1955.
