Louis Jani

Louis Jani, born on December sixth, nineteen fifty-seven, is a distinguished judoka from Canada who made his mark on the international judo scene. He proudly represented his country at two consecutive Summer Olympics, specifically in nineteen eighty-four and nineteen eighty-eight. Unfortunately, he was unable to compete in the nineteen eighty Moscow Olympics due to Canada's boycott, a setback that many athletes faced during that era.

Throughout his illustrious career, Jani achieved remarkable success, notably winning the gold medal in the middleweight division (– eighty-six kilograms) at the Pan American Games in both nineteen seventy-nine and nineteen eighty-three. His dedication to the sport and his country was evident as he competed as a member of Team Canada for an impressive fifteen years.

After his competitive career, Jani transitioned into coaching, taking on the role of Technical Director for Judo Canada. His expertise and leadership culminated in his appointment as the National Coach, where he guided the Canadian team during the two thousand Olympic Summer Games held in Sydney, Australia. Under his mentorship, athlete Nicolas Gill secured a silver medal, further solidifying Jani's legacy in Canadian judo.
