Louis Napoléon Champagne

Louis Napoléon Champagne, born on November twenty-first, eighteen sixty in Saint-Eustache, Canada East, was a prominent figure in Quebec's political and legal landscape. The son of Charles Champagne and Aglaé, he pursued his education at the Séminaire de Saint-Hyacinthe and the Université Laval, laying a strong foundation for his future career.

Champagne was admitted to the Quebec bar in eighteen eighty-two and quickly established his practice in Hull. His legal acumen led him to serve as the town's solicitor, and he held the position of mayor in both eighteen ninety-three and eighteen ninety-six. His leadership extended beyond local governance as he became the bâtonnier for the Ottawa district, showcasing his influence in the legal community.

In eighteen ninety-seven, Champagne entered the political arena, winning a by-election to represent Wright in the House of Commons of Canada as a Liberal. He was re-elected in the federal election of eighteen hundred, demonstrating his popularity and commitment to his constituents. His political career culminated in his appointment as a judge in the Quebec Superior Court for the newly formed Pontiac district in eighteen hundred four, a role he later transitioned to the Ottawa district in eighteen hundred ten.
