Louis Sleigher, born on October twenty-third, nineteen fifty-eight, is a notable figure in the world of ice hockey. A Canadian by nationality, he made his mark as a professional player, showcasing his skills in both the World Hockey Association and the National Hockey League.

During his career, Sleigher played a total of sixty-two games in a single season with the Birmingham Bulls in the World Hockey Association. His journey continued in the National Hockey League, where he participated in one hundred ninety-four games over seven seasons, representing teams such as the Quebec Nordiques and the Boston Bruins from nineteen seventy-eight to nineteen eighty-six.

One of the most memorable moments of Sleigher's career occurred during the nineteen eighty-four NHL Playoffs, where he was involved in the infamous Good Friday Massacre. In a dramatic bench-clearing brawl, he delivered a sucker-punch to Montreal Canadiens player Jean Hamel, resulting in Hamel being knocked unconscious. This incident had significant repercussions, ultimately contributing to the end of Hamel's playing career.

After a brief stint of six games with Quebec in the following season, Sleigher was traded to the Boston Bruins. He continued to play for two more seasons before deciding to retire from professional hockey, leaving behind a legacy marked by both skill and controversy.
