Louis the Blind

Louis the Blind, born in the year eight hundred eighty, was a significant political figure in medieval Europe. He ascended to the throne as king of Provence and Lower Burgundy in the year eight hundred ninety, a position he held until the year nine hundred twenty-eight. His reign was marked by territorial challenges and political maneuvering, as he also claimed the title of king of Italy from the year nine hundred to nine hundred five.

Louis was born to King Boso of the Bosonid family and Ermengard, a Carolingian princess and the only child of Emperor Louis II. This lineage positioned him within the complex tapestry of European nobility, intertwining the Bosonid and Carolingian dynasties.

His reign in Italy was short-lived, as in the year nine hundred five, he suffered a devastating loss when he was blinded. This event forced him to retreat to his remaining domains in Provence and Lower Burgundy, where he continued to rule until the end of his reign.
