Louisa Hanoune

Louisa Hanoune, born on April seventh, nineteen fifty-four, is a prominent Algerian politician and lawyer, known for her leadership of the Workers' Party (PT). Her political journey is marked by significant milestones, including her historic candidacy in two thousand four, when she became the first woman to run for the presidency of Algeria.

Hanoune's political activism began early, as she joined the Trotskyist Social Workers Organisation in nineteen eighty-one, an illegal party at the time. This decision led to her imprisonment by the government, a fate she would experience multiple times before the legalization of political parties in nineteen eighty-eight.
