Louise Archambault

Louise Archambault, a prominent Canadian film and television director and screenwriter, has made significant contributions to the cinematic landscape. Born in nineteen seventy, she has garnered acclaim for her unique storytelling and directorial vision.

Her filmography includes the award-winning works Familia, which earned the Claude Jutra Award in two thousand five, and Gabrielle, celebrated for winning the Canadian Screen Award for Best Picture in two thousand fourteen. Gabrielle also received recognition at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was featured in the Special Presentation section.

In addition to her feature films, Archambault has directed a variety of short films, such as Atomic Saké, Lock, Petite Mort, and Kluane. Her third feature film, And the Birds Rained Down, adapted from Jocelyne Saucier's novel Il pleuvait des oiseaux, was released in two thousand nineteen, followed by her fourth film, Thanks for Everything (Merci pour tout), later that same year.

Continuing her impressive trajectory, Archambault released One Summer (Le temps d'un été) in two thousand twenty-three, along with Irena's Vow, her first English-language film. This poignant feature tells the story of a former nurse who courageously shelters a dozen Jews during the harrowing times of Nazi-occupied Poland.

A proud graduate of Concordia University in Montreal, Archambault holds both a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts, completed in nineteen ninety-three and two thousand, respectively. Her educational background has undoubtedly shaped her artistic endeavors and commitment to storytelling.
