Louise Harel

Louise Harel, born on April twenty-second, nineteen forty-six, is a prominent figure in Quebec's political landscape. Her career spans several decades, during which she has made significant contributions to the province's governance and political discourse.

From nineteen eighty-one to two thousand eight, Harel represented the riding of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve in the Montreal region, showcasing her dedication to public service. In two thousand five, she stepped into a pivotal role as the interim leader of the Parti Québécois, following the resignation of Bernard Landry, and also served as the interim leader of the opposition in the National Assembly of Quebec.

In two thousand nine, Harel sought to expand her influence by running for Mayor of Montreal as a candidate for the Vision Montreal municipal political party. Despite her efforts, she was defeated by the incumbent, Gérald Tremblay. Later, in the two thousand thirteen Montreal election, she supported federalist Marcel Côté for mayor but was unable to secure a seat on the council herself.
