Louise of Orléans

Louise of Orléans, born on April third, eighteen twelve, was a prominent watercolorist and an influential figure in the aristocracy. As the second wife of King Leopold I, she became the first Queen of the Belgians following their marriage on August ninth, eighteen thirty-two. Her reign as queen lasted until her untimely death in eighteen fifty.

As the second child and eldest daughter of Louis Philippe I, the French king, and Maria Amalia of the Two Sicilies, Louise was born into a life of privilege. Despite her royal status, she rarely engaged in public representation, choosing instead to serve as a political adviser to her husband. This role allowed her to influence the political landscape of Belgium from behind the scenes.
