Lourdes Flores, born on October seventh, nineteen fifty-nine, in Jesús María, Lima, is a distinguished Peruvian lawyer and politician. She graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru in nineteen eighty-three, earning her law degree. Following her education, she worked as a legal advisor in the Ministry of Justice before embarking on an independent legal career. Between nineteen eighty-four and nineteen eighty-nine, she also served as a university teacher at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru Law School and the University of Lima Law School.

Flores began her political journey at a young age with the Christian People's Party (Partido Popular Cristiano). She held various internal positions within the party, including national secretary of Electoral Affairs and national secretary of Politics, before becoming the first woman to chair a political party in Peru in two thousand three. Her political career saw her elected as a councilwoman of Lima in nineteen eighty-six, and she later served as Deputy from Lima from nineteen ninety to nineteen ninety-two, and as a Congresswoman from nineteen ninety-five to two thousand.

In two thousand one, Flores made history as the first woman to be a major contender for the presidency in Peru, finishing third in the elections. She ran again in two thousand six, again placing third. Following her presidential campaigns, she served as chancellor of the San Ignacio de Loyola University from two thousand six to two thousand nine and was a candidate for the mayor of Lima in two thousand ten, where she narrowly lost. In two thousand sixteen, she ran for the First Vice Presidency on the Popular Alliance ticket, receiving five point eighty-three percent of the vote.

Currently, Lourdes Flores is the vice president of the Centrist Democrat International and a member of the Inter-American Dialogue, a Washington D.C.-based think tank. Her extensive career in law and politics has made her a prominent figure in Peruvian society.
