Lubomyr Romankiw, born on April seventeenth, nineteen thirty-one, is a distinguished figure in the fields of electrochemistry, material science, and engineering. A Ukrainian-Canadian-American, he dedicated his illustrious career to the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center located in Yorktown Heights, New York, where he achieved the prestigious title of IBM Fellow, the highest technical ranking within the company.
Romankiw's academic journey began at the University of Alberta, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in nineteen fifty-seven. He furthered his education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, obtaining both his Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in metallurgy and materials in nineteen sixty. His doctoral dissertation, titled "Kinetics of dissolution of zinc sulfide in aqueous sulfuric acid," was completed under the guidance of Professor P. L. de Bruyn.
