Luc Plamondon

Luc Plamondon, born on March second, nineteen forty-two, in Saint-Raymond, is a distinguished French-Canadian lyricist and music executive. Renowned for his contributions to the world of musical theatre, he is best known for his iconic works, including the celebrated musicals Starmania and Notre-Dame de Paris. His artistic journey reflects a deep passion for storytelling through music, which has resonated with audiences across generations.

Growing up in a family where his father was a horse dealer, Plamondon's early life was steeped in the rich cultural tapestry of Quebec. He pursued classical studies at the Petit Séminaire de Québec, where he initially aspired to become a priest. However, his path took a transformative turn, leading him to embrace his identity as a poet. This shift, while profound, led to a curious misunderstanding during an interview where the term 'poet' was mistakenly replaced with 'painter', a mix-up that has lingered despite his lack of experience in visual arts.

In addition to his artistic achievements, Plamondon is also known for his strong political beliefs as a francophone nationalist and Quebec sovereigntist.
