Lucas Makowsky

Lucas Makowsky, born on May 30, 1987, is a distinguished Canadian speed skater who has made significant contributions to the sport. His journey began at the tender age of six, showcasing a natural talent that would lead him to the pinnacle of Canadian speed skating.

During the 2008–09 season, Lucas achieved remarkable success, securing the top rank in Canada for both the 5000 m and 10000 m events. His dedication and hard work culminated in his participation in the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he represented Canada in the 1500 m, 5000 m, and team pursuit events.

At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Lucas and his teammates, Denny Morrison and Mathieu Giroux, delivered an outstanding performance, clinching a gold medal in the team pursuit on February 27. This victory marked a significant milestone in his career, highlighting his ability to excel on the world stage.

Lucas continued to compete at the highest level, participating in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Alongside Giroux and Morrison, he narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing in fourth place after a fierce contest against Poland in the bronze-medal round.
