Lucius D. Clay

In nineteen forty-five, Clay served as the deputy to General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower, a position that set the stage for his subsequent responsibilities. By nineteen forty-six, he had ascended to the role of deputy military governor of Germany, further solidifying his influence in post-war Europe.

From nineteen forty-seven to nineteen forty-nine, Clay held the esteemed position of Commander in Chief of the United States Forces in Europe and military governor of the United States Zone in Germany.
