Łucja Frey

Łucja Frey, born on November third, eighteen eighty-nine, was a pioneering Polish-Jewish physician and neurologist. She made significant contributions to the field of neurology, most notably for her work in describing a syndrome that would later bear her name. As one of the first female academic neurologists in Europe, Frey broke barriers in a male-dominated profession, paving the way for future generations of women in medicine.

Her dedication to her work and her patients was evident throughout her career, as she sought to advance the understanding of neurological disorders. Frey's expertise and insights were invaluable during a time when the field was still evolving, and her legacy continues to influence neurologists today.

Tragically, Frey's life was cut short during the Holocaust. In nineteen forty-two, she perished in the Lwów ghetto at the age of fifty-three. Her story serves as a poignant reminder of the countless lives lost during this dark chapter in history, as well as the enduring impact of her contributions to medicine.
