As a businessman, Dionne was the owner of a shoe factory, a heel factory, and a rayon mill located in Saint-Georges. His entrepreneurial spirit was evident in his ventures, which contributed to the local economy and provided employment opportunities for many.

In nineteen forty-seven, Dionne faced a challenging situation when a worker's strike occurred at his rayon mill. In a controversial move, he traveled to Poland and recruited one hundred Polish Catholic women, bringing them to Canada to work in his mill or as nuns. This decision sparked outrage among the striking workers, who felt their jobs were being threatened by the influx of immigrants.

The controversy surrounding Dionne's actions led to significant political repercussions. On June twenty-first, nineteen forty-seven, the Canadian Parliament passed several laws concerning displaced foreign refugees, a direct response to the situation. Ultimately, this scandal contributed to his defeat in the nineteen forty-nine election, and although he attempted to return to politics in the nineteen fifty-seven election, he was not re-elected.
