Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Ludovico Scarfiotti

Ludovico Scarfiotti, born on October eighteenth, nineteen thirty-three in Turin, was a distinguished Italian racing driver known for his remarkable achievements in both Formula One and endurance racing. As the grandson of Lodovico Scarfiotti, a co-founder and former president of Fiat, Ludovico was destined for a life intertwined with speed and competition.

His racing career began in sportscar events, where he made a name for himself driving for Ferrari starting in nineteen sixty. Scarfiotti's talent shone brightly when he secured a third-place finish at the 1962 1000 km of Paris, paving the way for his historic victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in nineteen sixty-three, alongside teammate Lorenzo Bandini, in the Ferrari 250 P. This triumph, coupled with his win at the 12 Hours of Sebring, led to his debut in Formula One at the Dutch Grand Prix in nineteen sixty-three.

Over the next five seasons, Scarfiotti made sporadic appearances in Formula One, achieving his sole victory at the Italian Grand Prix in nineteen sixty-six. His prowess extended beyond Formula One, as he also finished as a runner-up at the prestigious Le Mans in nineteen sixty-seven and at the 24 Hours of Daytona. After a brief stint with Eagle in nineteen sixty-seven, he joined Cooper for the following season, continuing to showcase his racing skills.

In addition to his Formula One and endurance racing successes, Scarfiotti claimed the sportscar class title in the European Hillclimb Championship in both nineteen sixty-two and nineteen sixty-five. Tragically, his promising career was cut short when he died in June nineteen sixty-eight during a hillclimbing event in the German Alps, following a crash in his Porsche 910.
