Luis Antonio Tagle

Luis Antonio Tagle, born on June 21, 1957, is a prominent Filipino prelate of the Catholic Church, known for his progressive views and leadership within the Church. He has held the esteemed position of pro-prefect for the Section for First Evangelization and New Particular Churches of the Dicastery for Evangelization since December 8, 2019. His journey in the Church has seen him serve as the 32nd archbishop of Manila from 2011 to 2020 and as the bishop of Imus from 2001 to 2011.

Tagle, affectionately known as Chito, is currently the cardinal bishop of Albano. His influence extends beyond his archdiocese as he also presides over the Catholic Biblical Federation and serves as the grand chancellor of the Pontifical Urbaniana University. His commitment to the Church is further exemplified through his role as president of the Interdicasterial Commission for Consecrated Religious and as a member of various departments and dicasteries within the Roman Curia.
