Luís I of Portugal

Luís I of Portugal, born on October thirty-first, eighteen thirty-eight, was a prominent figure in Portuguese history, serving as King from eighteen sixty-one until eighteen eighty-nine. He was a member of the illustrious House of Braganza, which played a significant role in shaping the nation.

As the second son of Queen Maria II and her consort, King Ferdinand II, Luís was initially known as the Duke of Porto. His ascension to the throne came after the untimely death of his elder brother, King Pedro V, marking the beginning of his reign during a transformative period for Portugal.

In addition to his royal duties, Luís I was an avid photographer and a dedicated military personnel. His interests extended beyond the confines of the palace, allowing him to engage with the world in unique ways that reflected his multifaceted personality.
