Luiz of Orléans-Braganza

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Luiz of Orléans-Braganza

Luiz of Orléans-Braganza, born on June sixth, nineteen thirty-eight, was a prominent Brazilian royal claimant and chemist. He served as the head of the Vassouras branch of the Imperial House of Brazil from nineteen eighty-one until his passing. As the eldest son of Prince Pedro Henrique of Orléans-Braganza and Princess Maria Elisabeth of Bavaria, Luiz was recognized by his supporters as the pretender to the defunct title of Emperor of Brazil.

The Vassouras branch, which Luiz led, asserted its claim to the former Brazilian throne in opposition to the Petrópolis branch, headed by Pedro Carlos Orléans-Braganza. Both Luiz and Pedro Carlos were great-grandsons of Princess Isabel, the daughter and heiress of Emperor Pedro II. However, their paths diverged due to a dynastic dispute involving their fathers, who were first cousins.

Throughout his life, Prince Luiz was a passionate advocate for the Vassouras claim. He actively engaged in public discourse and participated in monarchist movements, dedicating his efforts to initiatives that celebrated Brazil’s imperial history and legacy. His commitment to these causes left a lasting impact on the royalist community in Brazil.
