This unique version was filmed at night in Los Angeles, utilizing the same elaborate sets as the iconic Bela Lugosi version, yet featured a distinct cast and director.

In addition to her role in Drácula, Tovar made her mark in the film Santa, released in nineteen thirty-two. This film is celebrated as one of the pioneering Mexican sound films and stands as one of the earliest commercial Spanish-language sound films, showcasing her talent during a transformative era in cinema.

Lupita Tovar's legacy extended beyond her film career. She lived a remarkable life, passing away at the age of one hundred six on November twelfth, twenty sixteen. At the time of her death, she held the record as the oldest living Mexican actress, a testament to her enduring spirit and contribution to the arts. Her record was later surpassed in twenty twenty-six by Dolores Muñoz Ledo, who lived to be one hundred seven.
