Lutz D. Schmadel

Lutz D. Schmadel, born on July second, nineteen forty-two, is a distinguished German astronomer renowned for his extensive contributions to the field of asteroid discovery. His career flourished at the Astronomisches Rechen-Institut (ARI) at the University of Heidelberg, where he dedicated himself to the astrometry of minor planets.

Throughout his career, Schmadel made significant strides in the identification of numerous asteroids, including notable main-belt asteroids such as 8661 Ratzinger, 10114 Greifswald, and 11508 Stolte.
