Luz Long

Luz Long, born on April twenty-seventh, nineteen thirteen, was a remarkable German athlete known for his exceptional talent in long jump. He gained international recognition when he secured the silver medal at the 1936 Summer Olympics held in Berlin, an event that also showcased his friendship with the legendary Jesse Owens, who triumphed with the gold medal in the same competition.

Throughout his athletic career, Long demonstrated his prowess by winning the German long jump championship six times, with victories spanning from nineteen thirty-three to nineteen thirty-nine. His dedication to the sport and consistent performance made him a prominent figure in athletics during the 1930s.

Tragically, Long's life was cut short when he was killed while serving in the German Army under the Wehrmacht during World War II. His legacy, however, lives on through the stories of his sportsmanship and the bond he shared with Owens, which transcended the racial tensions of their time.
