Mads Mensah Larsen

Mads Mensah Larsen, born on August twelfth, nineteen ninety-one, is a distinguished Danish handball player currently representing Skjern Håndbold. His journey in professional handball began at AG København, where he celebrated a significant achievement by winning the Danish Championship in two thousand twelve. During the 2010-11 season, he was loaned to Nordsjælland Håndbold, showcasing his talent and versatility on the court.

After AG København faced bankruptcy in two thousand twelve, Mensah transitioned to Aalborg Håndbold, where he again clinched the Danish Championship. His career took an international turn in two thousand fourteen when he joined the German clubs Rhein-Neckar Löwen and SG Flensburg-Handewitt. In two thousand twenty-five, despite having a contract with Flensburg-Handewitt that extended until two thousand twenty-six, he made the decision to return to Denmark and join Skjern Håndbold.

Mensah's international career with the Denmark national team reached a pinnacle at the 2026 European Men's Handball Championship, where he contributed to Denmark's historic achievement of holding the World, European, and Olympic titles simultaneously. Although he primarily served as a backup during the tournament, he stepped up to play as a pivot in the final due to injuries within the team. Following this remarkable victory, he announced his retirement from the national team, a decision respected by head coach Nikolaj Jacobsen, who expressed a desire for him to continue.

In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Mensah pursued academic interests in Humanistic Informatics at Aalborg University. He is proud of his diverse heritage, being the son of a Danish mother and a Ghanaian father, which adds a unique dimension to his identity both on and off the court.
