Magnus Wislander

Magnus Wislander, born on February 22, 1964, is a celebrated former Swedish handball player, renowned for his exceptional skills and contributions to the sport. His illustrious career began with the national team in 1985, where he quickly made a name for himself as one of the best players in history. Over the course of his career, he played in three hundred eighty-six matches and scored an impressive one thousand one hundred ninety-one goals, setting records for both the most appearances and goals for the Sweden national team.

Wislander's club career saw him play for prominent teams such as Redbergslids IK in Gothenburg and THW Kiel. His versatility on the court allowed him to excel primarily as a centre back before transitioning to the pivot position in his later years. This adaptability contributed to his reputation as a formidable player, earning him the nickname 'Slangen,' which translates to 'The Hose.'

In 1990, his outstanding performance was recognized when he was named the IHF World Player of the Year, a testament to his skill and impact on the game.
