Maik Taylor, born on September fourth, nineteen seventy-one, is a distinguished former international football goalkeeper from Northern Ireland. His journey in football began at the grassroots level, playing non-League football for clubs such as Petersfield Town, Basingstoke Town, and Farnborough Town. Taylor's talent soon propelled him into the Football League, where he made his mark with Barnet before moving on to notable clubs including Southampton, Fulham, and Birmingham City.
During his eight-year tenure at Birmingham City, Taylor established himself as a key player, ultimately concluding his playing career with stints at Leeds United and Millwall. His international career was equally impressive, as he represented Northern Ireland, qualifying through his British passport, which allowed him to play for any of the Home Nations due to his birth abroad.
After hanging up his gloves, Taylor transitioned into coaching, initially taking on a role within the Northern Ireland setup. His coaching journey included a brief period as the goalkeeping coach at Bradford City in two thousand nineteen, followed by three years at Walsall. In July two thousand twenty-two, he took on the role of goalkeeping coach at Birmingham City, continuing his legacy in the sport.
