Maja Gojković, born on May twenty-second, nineteen sixty-three, is a prominent Serbian lawyer and politician. She has made significant contributions to the political landscape of Serbia, currently serving as the president of the Government of Vojvodina since two thousand twenty-four. A member of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Gojković has held various influential positions throughout her career.
Her political journey began with the Serbian Radical Party (SRS), where she served as minister without portfolio from nineteen ninety-eight to nineteen ninety-nine and later as deputy prime minister of Yugoslavia from nineteen ninety-nine to two thousand. Gojković's leadership skills were further demonstrated during her tenure as the mayor of Novi Sad from two thousand four to two thousand eight.
In two thousand fourteen, she was appointed president of the National Assembly, a role she held until two thousand twenty. Following this, she took on the responsibilities of deputy prime minister of Serbia and minister of culture and information, serving until two thousand twenty-four. Gojković's political evolution continued as she left the SRS to form the People's Party (NP), which later merged into the SNS in two thousand twelve.
