Mamnoon Hussain, born on December twenty-third, nineteen forty, was a prominent Pakistani politician and industrialist. He served as the twelfth president of Pakistan from two thousand thirteen to two thousand eighteen, marking a significant chapter in the nation's political landscape.
Before his presidency, Hussain held the position of governor of Sindh from June nineteen ninety-nine until he was deposed in a coup d'état in October of the same year. This coup, led by Pervez Musharraf, resulted in the overthrow of the federal and all provincial governments, a pivotal moment in Pakistan's history.
In July two thousand thirteen, Hussain was nominated for the presidency by the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and subsequently elected through an indirect presidential election. He officially took office after taking an oath administered by the Chief Justice of Pakistan on September ninth, two thousand thirteen.
Throughout his presidency, Hussain maintained a low-key profile, with his involvement in national politics being relatively minimal. However, he played a notable role in public health initiatives, particularly in the Polio eradication program, demonstrating his commitment to the welfare of the nation.
