Manon Briand, born in 1964, is a distinguished Canadian film director and screenwriter whose creative journey began after she graduated in film studies from Concordia University. Her passion for storytelling led her to France in 1987, where she honed her skills in screenwriting.
Upon returning to Canada, Briand co-founded Les Films de l’Autre, an independent filmmakers’ group that became a platform for innovative cinematic expression. She quickly made her mark in the industry, directing a variety of films that showcase her unique vision, including the acclaimed Letters of Transit (Les Sauf-conduits), the segment in Cosmos, and the thought-provoking works 2 Seconds, Chaos and Desire, and Liverpool.
In addition to her feature films, Briand has also made significant contributions to television, notably with the film Heart: The Marilyn Bell Story. Her ability to weave compelling narratives has earned her recognition and respect in the film community.
As of 2023, Briand is in production for her latest feature film, All Stirred Up! (Tous toqués), further solidifying her status as a prominent figure in Canadian cinema.
