Manuel Fraga

Manuel Fraga, born on November twenty-third, nineteen twenty-two, was a prominent Spanish politician, diplomat, writer, and university teacher. His political career began during the dictatorship of Francisco Franco, where he played a significant role as a professor and a key figure in the regime.

Fraga served as the Minister of Information and Tourism from nineteen sixty-two to nineteen sixty-nine, a position that allowed him to shape the narrative of Spain during a tumultuous period. He later became the Ambassador to the United Kingdom from nineteen seventy-three to nineteen seventy-five, and briefly held the position of Minister of the Interior in nineteen seventy-five. His influence continued as he served as the Second Deputy Prime Minister until nineteen seventy-six.

Following the fall of Franco's regime, Fraga emerged as one of the Fathers of the Constitution, contributing to the establishment of democratic governance in Spain. He was instrumental in founding the People's Alliance, which later evolved into the People's Party, serving as its President from nineteen seventy-nine to nineteen ninety.

Fraga's political journey culminated in his role as President of Galicia from nineteen ninety to two thousand five. He remained an active member of the Congress of Deputies and a senator until November two thousand eleven, solidifying his legacy as a key political figure during both the Franco regime and the transition to democracy.
