Manuel Osborne-Paradis

Manuel Osborne-Paradis, born on February eighth, nineteen eighty-four, in North Vancouver, British Columbia, is a distinguished former World Cup alpine ski racer. He began his skiing journey with the Whistler Mountain Ski Club, where he honed his skills and passion for the sport.

Osborne-Paradis achieved his first World Cup podium in November two thousand six at the Bombardier Winterstart men's downhill in Lake Louise, Alberta. His remarkable career saw him clinch his first victory at the downhill event in Kvitfjell in March two thousand nine, marking a significant milestone in his racing journey.

In April two thousand eight, he collaborated with teammate Mike Janyk to host a four-day training camp, known as the 'Cowboys Camp,' aimed at supporting underprivileged Canadian racers from British Columbia. This initiative, affectionately referred to as the Mike & Manny Camp, showcased his commitment to giving back to the skiing community.

Despite facing challenges, including a severe crash in Chamonix, France, on January twenty-nine, two thousand eleven, which resulted in a broken fibula and sidelined him for the remainder of the season, Osborne-Paradis demonstrated resilience. He made a remarkable comeback, surprising many by winning a bronze medal in super-G at the two thousand seventeen World Championships, coincidentally on his thirty-third birthday.

His career faced another setback in November two thousand eighteen when he suffered a broken leg during a training run at Lake Louise, ultimately ending his season. Nevertheless, his legacy in alpine skiing remains impactful and inspiring.
