Marco Reus

Marco Reus, born on May 31, 1989, is a distinguished German professional footballer renowned for his versatility as a forward and attacking midfielder. He began his youth career at Borussia Dortmund before making a move to Rot Weiss Ahlen. In 2009, he joined Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he had a standout season in 2012, netting eighteen goals and providing twelve assists in the Bundesliga, which played a crucial role in securing the club's place in the UEFA Champions League.

After a successful stint at Mönchengladbach, Reus returned to his hometown club, Borussia Dortmund, following the 2011-12 season. During his twelve-year tenure with Dortmund, he achieved significant accolades, including winning the DFB-Pokal in 2017 and 2021, and the DFL-Supercup in 2013 and 2019. He also reached the Champions League final in 2013 and 2024, marking both his debut and farewell seasons with the club. Reus served as the club captain from 2018 until 2023, amassing a remarkable total of one hundred seventy goals and one hundred thirty-two assists across all competitions.

Reus is celebrated as one of the most prolific midfielders of his generation, being one of only three players to achieve the milestone of one hundred Bundesliga goals and one hundred assists. His contributions to the game have earned him the title of German Footballer of the Year twice and Bundesliga Player of the Season on three occasions. With over two hundred career goals, he is regarded as one of Borussia Dortmund's greatest players.

In August 2024, after his contract with Dortmund expired, Reus signed with Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy on a deal lasting until the end of 2026, marking his first venture outside Germany. Just four months into his tenure with the Galaxy, he celebrated his first trophy with the club by lifting the MLS Cup.

On the international stage, Reus earned forty-eight caps for the Germany national team, participating in two major tournaments: Euro 2012 and the 2018 World Cup. However, he faced unfortunate setbacks, missing three World Cups and two Euros due to injuries.
