Margaret Benston

Margaret Benston, born on October first, nineteen thirty-seven, was a distinguished professor at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, where she taught chemistry, computing science, and women's studies. Her academic contributions were complemented by her passionate advocacy for women's rights and labor issues.

A founding member of several influential organizations, Benston played a pivotal role in establishing the Vancouver Women's Caucus in nineteen eighty-eight, the Euphoniously Feminist and Non-Performing Quintet in nineteen seventy, and Simon Fraser University's Women's Studies Program in nineteen seventy-five. Additionally, she was instrumental in the creation of Mayworks in nineteen eighty-eight, showcasing her commitment to feminist and labor activism.

Throughout her career, which spanned over three decades, Benston was a tireless advocate, engaging in writing, public speaking, and lobbying efforts on behalf of the women's and labor movements.
