Margaret Jean Anderson

Margaret Jean Anderson, born on August seventh, nineteen fifteen, in Burnt Church, New Brunswick, was a prominent Canadian businesswoman and senator. She took the helm of her family's lumber business, W.S. Anderson and Company Ltd., showcasing her leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.

Her political journey began as she became the president of the New Brunswick Women's Liberal Association from nineteen seventy-two to nineteen seventy-six. In nineteen seventy-eight, she was appointed to the Senate on the advice of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, representing the senatorial division of Northumberland--Miramichi, New Brunswick. A dedicated member of the Liberal Party of Canada, she served until her retirement at the age of seventy-five in nineteen ninety.

Beyond her political and business endeavors, Anderson was actively involved in her community. She served as a past president of the United Church Women (UCW) and was a member of the St. James & St. John's United Church.
